I figured that’s what you meant. The only two tracks I know of that put corner times – times to first turn – in their programs are Tri State and Daytona. I use them to compare two dogs that look to be the early speed in a race, to see which one is more likely to beat the other one to the turn. It’s also helpful if a dog is prone to trouble on the first turn.

If you see by its first to turn time that it will be getting to the first turn first, it might avoid trouble in that race. But if its first to turn time is about the same as several other dogs, there could be a lot of bumping or it could get knocked out of the race entirely on the first turn. Dogs that consistently have faster first to turn times than all the other dogs are good bets, as long as they’re not faders. You don’t see many races where that’s the case though.
